VW Touareg 2010 onwards retrofit towar

There are some forums that suggest that the vw Touareg from 2010 onwards needs an expensive cooling fan upgrade from 600w to 850w. As the upgrade costs £1000, I am reluctant to spend the money if not absolutely necessary. Ironically, VW quote the Touareg
at a 3.5 ton capacity. I will be towing 1900kg max. Does anyone have experience with this particular model - does it over heat? Aware that this is not a problem for the previous model. Aware also that factory fit towbar comes with updated fan - hence price.
Appreciate any advice.
