Spare Wheel

I realise that this is probably been discussed but I would appreciate some advice

I have an x trail Which has an 215/65R16 98m spare wheel, smaller than standard wheel 225/55/r18

Nissan handbook advises do not tow with spare fitted.

I have heard that some owners have received a letter from Nissan advising that it is safe to tow with the spare fitted

Also can a full sized tyre be fitted to the spare wheel and if so, will it fit the tyre well in the boot

This is very frustrating because the Caravan have a deal with Nissan to promote the x trail and I would have thought that this issue would have been discussed
