Freelander 2 DS/GS Tow Bar fitting.

Can anyone give advice on fitting a wiring harness for a tow bar?  I have been told that only the LR bar should be fitted together with a LR wiring harness as this is compatible with the CANBUS system use for distributing power for lights and other functions.
I gues their saying this unit needs coding to the CANBUS ECU.  Other fitters witter and towsure say that if i use a bypass system I will not need to use the LR parts.  The cost from a LR approvged fitter is about £600. A kit from Towsure is £155 with me doing
he fitting. I have done this many times in the past with CANBUS systems and have not had any problems.
