Round or flat food grade water hose?

I'm thinking of trying out the super-pitches and wondered    if there are any advantages with using the flat water hose compared to the standard hose.  Clearly the flat hose takes up less room when stored but I believe it has to be fully unreeled before
use.  Does this procedure result in damage? Also what would be a sensible length of hose to start with regarding CC sites, 10m?
