We are still new to caravanning and put our van on a seasonal pitch in February.  We have visited the caravan almost every weekend since we sited it but only met the neighbours behind us this weekend.

Cutting a very long story very short we found out that they have been pitched on our site for about 20 years but have become disillusioned by the site itself, their fellow caravanners, site management and the cost of caravanning.  They spent the whole weekend
telling anyone and everyone who would listen just how awful the site has become since the farmer sold his interest to the family who now own the site, how the site fees have doubled in the 20 years since they first pitched and how their neighbours on site
now “aren’t the same as the old crowd”.  When we were leaving yesterday they told us that they had decided to forfeit their pitch fee for the season, empty their caravan and sell it to the local dealer.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like to see anyone upset but they were such a drain on everyone’s energy.  The weather was gorgeous and people just wanted to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine but these two just dragged down the atmosphere with their moaning
and groaning and constant harping back to when the site was “just a field”.

I know that things change over time but if you do find yourself in the position where you aren’t happy pursuing this hobby anymore then just give it up.  Don’t moan about it, don’t complain that everyone isn’t the same as you, don’t try to change the unchangeable,
just move on and do something else.  Most of all, don’t try to spoil it for the ones who are enjoying it.  Our time will come so let us enjoy it while it lasts.
