Awning Size difference margin?

Hi

We currently have a porch awning but we are wanting to get a full size one for our main holiday this year. We are going to buy a second hand one. My vans awning rail is 970cm my question is how much leeway is there with sizes e.g could I buy an awning that
is 960 or 980 and would it still fit.
