I am spending a week in Cornwall and then travelling up to Start Bay the following week. I intend using the A30 then onto the A38 (before those horrible roadworks) I am wondering where the best place is to exit the A38 and I guess going via Kingsbridge. My
thought is to go A3121 - B3196 to Kingsbridge.

Any comments please.

Corona, please do not use the B3196! I promise it is a road you will regret using.

By far the best way is to pick up the A379 on the eastern outskirts of Plymouth. You may have to deal with a bit more traffic but it will be well worth it. Follow the signs for A 379 Kingsbridge from the A38 Parkway dual carriageway at Plymouth. (£3 for
car and cvan combined on the Tamar Bridge)

Be prepared for very narrow lanes between Kingsbridge and the CC site but they are even worse between the site and Dartmouth so don't be tempted to go in from that direction.

Thanks tinwheeler. Checked out your suggestion on the map and take on board what you have said. Yes it looks straight forward. I have been to Start Bay many years ago and seem to remember some of the roads were a little tricky. In fact I also remember taking a wrong turning just up the road from the site down a narrow lane and got stuck. I had to spin the van around in a farm entrance, it took more than a 3 point turn, that's for sure. Oh the joys of caravanning.

You're welcome, Corona. I lived in Plymouth for many years so am pretty familiar with the area and still visit the South Hams from time to time.

    Enjoy your holiday.
