Towing with Isuzu D-Max

Just about to swap our car for an Isuzu D-Max.... any tips for towing with this pickup? Caravan is out of warranty, so no issue there with towing with a "commercial" vehicle... Although obviously don't want to damage it due to stiff suspension. Thinking
I may need to weigh the back down a bit, to take some bounce out of it... a few 25KG bags of sand would do the trick I reckon... or am I being overly worried? I have come across the Dixon-Bate shocklink, but doesn't look like I could legally fit one as it
would need to be type approved with the towbar, which seems unlikely!!

Any thoughts?

I’ll give you a more adult answer Blue-they’re great, I have the Yukon, they’re just big estate vehicles. The back has a massive amount of storage to stop you overloading the C/van. It’s 29-30mpg towing, if the Isuzu dmax can tug 3.5tonnes it’s not going to have issues with a sub 2tonne C/van. The Dmax 2017-2018 doesn’t need adblue to comply with emissions laws. Any questions just ask away👍🏻😊

Thanks Rocky - you've highlighted exactly what my reasearch was telling me. If you don't mind me asking a few questions - Do you have the 2.5 or 1.9 and auto or manual? Do you find the towball height ok without needing any special adjustment? Do you use a shocklink or similar? Do you have a roll top on the load bed or a canopy and if the latter which one and any comments good or bad? Much appreciatedtongue-out

    No worries.

2.5 manual. A mate has the 1.9 & loves it, He tugs 2-3tonnes happily.

Towball height excellent, I had the bar fitted by Isuzu.

    Shocklink?🤔

canopy, I need it to get more kit in, Dogs & it keeps all my Tree surgery gear dry. Roll tops reduce the size of the protected area.

pic below, it’s 6yrs old in June. Never missed a beat👍🏻

Rocky, what's your solo towing mpg like? Do happen to know the category for pollution levels as we'll be towing abroad and will need certain stickers. Ta.

Sorry, Rocky, meant to say solo NOT towing. Doesn't make sense otherwise, but what else is new?

40mpg, I never go anywhere fast😊. The new 1.9 Truck is better MPG than the 2.5, as expected I guess👍🏻
