TV Ariel socket
We just bought a new Compass Corona and we couldn't get a tv signal from the socket just inside the main door, we thought we were just in a poor reception area, however when we hooked up to the bedroom tv socket we got a perfect signal, I did check the connections were good but can't find the problem, any idea's, to save taking a 90 minute drive back to the dealer??

The aerial will have a wire that goes into a splitter, or more likely a signal booster. The booster will have 'outputs' into which a plug will connect the cable to each socket. Make sure the plugs are all into the booster correctly first of all.
if they are, and you have access to a multimeter, check that the resistance between the outer 'ring' and centre 'pin' of the socket is infinite, if not, the most likely cause is a stray shield wire at the back of the socket or the plug on the other end, although it's possible that the cable has been crushed/pierced by a screw or similar. The 'core' wires can be quite soft copper and enthusiastic tightening of the clamp screw at the back of the socket will often sever the core wire as the plate is pushed into the fitting.
