Cycle Insurance
Difficult to know where to post this but here goes!
We have just bought a new electric cycle which is mainly for Mrs B to use near home and whilst touring in the UK and Europe.
I have looked at a number of cycle insurance companies and had a call back from one of them. The sticking point is securing the cycle whilst away in the caravan as they stipulate the cycle must be attached to an immovable object which they define as:
We define this as any solid object fixed, or onto, concrete or stone, which is not capable of being undone, removed with, or lifted under/over the bicycle. This includes motor vehicle roof racks, properly fixed bicycle vehicle racks, and bicycle racks
provided at train stations.
If the cycle was always attached to the roof all would be fine, but we tend to remove the bikes from the car and secure them to the leg or chassis of the caravan. The insurance salesmen said he didn't believe this would be acceptable to the insurers.
What do others do and who do you insure your cycles with?. Your comments are most welcome
