Brian, were you able to chose your pitch when booking? Were you able to chose h/s or grass at the time of booking? Is there an abundance of serviced pitches? Are the toilets cleaned several times each day? Is the site cheaper than most commercial sites?

If the answer is 'No' to these questions, then I think we have the answer to why the site is so quiet.

Last week was half term and busy. This week is inevitably quieter and there's noticeably less traffic about in this area.

So none of the above reasons then, Tinners?

How on earth would I know?

I merely made a comment that this week is quieter generally - it's common sense.

I could have added that last week was better weather and you often get sea mist on the coast but didn't consider it relevant to bookings for a site.

Tinners - But despite not knowing, you still provided a comment supporting the CC.

The weather forecast for this week was brilliant and it actually lived up to it. But still a site in a prime holiday location is half empty.

Go figure (as some would say).

If you see that as a comment supporting CC, Ian, you're way off beam.

So you agree that the reason may be that CC are just too expensive for the limited facilities they provide?

We came to this site just after the caravan club  took it over the site was always full and the weather was brilliant now it is fog and half empty or half full whichever you prefer. Just hope the weather improves as we are here until the 21st.

15 nights for the 2 of us not on a service pitch that would be another £3.50 a night extra £360. If you take the price of going to a swimming pool into account then the price isn't that bad,

We just paid £96 for 7 nights on a fully serviced pitch in Devon, with a view of the sea......and an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool.......commercial site, of course.

Oh, and it was hardstanding and we could chose our pitch at the time of booking.....

So there is a pretty direct comparison between CC and commercial site pricing and facilities.

School holidays were last week.  I challenge you to find a site  (commercial or otherwise) in the Torbay area that is full this week.

We have just come back from a CL in Much Wenlock in Shropshire. £12.00 per night with awning, electric hook up, water and waste point, in the middle of the countryside and on school holidays. What more can you ask for.

The site that we went to in Devon was very well maintained.

The toilet cleaning (which seems to be the be all and end all in some people's measure of a 'good' site) was immaculate. There was a 'sign-in' sheet in each block and they were done at least three times each day.

What other measure do you want to use?

I've already said that we were guaranteed a h/s pitch of our choice and that it was fully serviced......at a price that would give the CC management palpitations.

See the OP. It's much better than it used to be. Nothing to be concerned about now.

I've posted it several times, Brian......Woolacombe Sands. Chose a pitch on the the top terrace for great views.

There is a footpath down into the centre of Woolacombe from the site.

But when 7 nights are £96 on a fully serviced, guaranteed h/s pitch, who cares!

Incidentally, they gave a £10 discount for booking on-line.......despite having rung them for advice on which would be a good pitch.

We don't have a dog (unfortunately).

I didn't get chance to finish this, got called away. I couldn't get a price because they were fully booked until end of June. but at £13.7 p.n.,.even adding the price of a dog still leaves it a pretty good price.

    peedee

p.s got a price for early July £15.7p.n. for hard standing with electric including a dog . I have no need of serviced pitches. Willingcott is £20.4 p.n.
