Oh how I laughed when I read the article in the latest club magazine about the journalist and his wife who couldn't work out how to do a hill start with an electric hand brake.
I guess they never realised that you don't need to release the hand brake, you just pull away and it releases automatically. Hilarious! 
The best thing about my Vauxhall is the electric hand brake coupled with hill start assist, two awesome and independent functions that can be used together or separately.
If you know how to use them of course.
