Hello.   We normally stay at North Ledaig cc site as our first stop when we visit The Highlands. Can anyone recommend a nice site nearer to Oban,? A clean shower block is very important and hard standing with ehu. Thank you.

There is nothing else I know of on the way into Oban. For us the view out to sea makes up for any problems of distance.

We've looked at others out of curiosity but don't think you can beat North Ledaig and if really isn't far out of Oban.

North Ledaig is your nearest site. It is a private site with their own set of rules.

There is a private site and a CL at Benderloch but that is a few miles further from.Oban.

There used to be a dog free site just south of Oban called Oban Divers but Ive no idea if they are still trading.

I've stayed at the CL at Benderloch. Just across the road from the commercial site. CL wouldn't suit the OP though as it has no shower block although there is water to each individual HS pitch.

Thank you for your replies,  looks like we will stay at North Ledaig again. We do like the site but just wondered if there was an alternative that would be in walking distance to Oban.

The CL at Benderloch (Highfield?) closed last year but it seems the static site Tralee is now taking tourers.  We stayed at Tralee about 6 years ago in a static, it's a very nice site with direct access to the beach and water.

On further investigation, it seems the Highfield site is still in use but managed by Tralee.  They're adding some wooden camping pods too.  Not much more info available but good it know for the future.

The distance isn't a great problem, just like the idea of having Oban within walking distance as we love a walk along the front in the evening. our very first trip to Scotland was a stay just outside of Oban, we had a lovely holiday but as the accommodation was poor it was then we decided to get a small caravan for future visits.

..It looks as though this site is now Roseview, sounds as though it's been revamped?

Drongo I think this site is within walking distance of Oban.
