firsttime trying the awning!disaster tips or ditch

Hi all! We had our first attempt at a pyramid corsica awning its a great big awning, magic if you can get the thing up single handed! dh was at it for about 2 hours!(I was keeping watch for our boys  gassing the van!) 

So dh had all poles ready it was attached to the van(no wind all day) then no joke a gust of wind carried the thing up and crashed into the van and bust 2 poles THEN..... sunshine and not a puff all day! lol..... do you think someone is trying to tell us
something ( get a wee awning?) or grab someone and insist they help!  Laughing  Anyway were thinking on getting a easier one any  suggestions?

If we get the big one fixed do they sell for much? its been used 5 times by previous owner and other than the 2 poles in good condition?
