Electric heaters

Can anyone explain to me the fixation with oil filled electric heaters?? I have always used a convector heater which is efficient, lightweight and easy to stow. I was in the Brighton site over the weekend (heavy nightime frosts) and my convector heater did
the biz perfectly!
