thetford toilet not flushing

I have a lunar van with a thetford C4 cassette, this morning I find the flush button is extremely difficult to turn, there is plenty of liquid in the system, the thetford manual I have is not helpful at all, nor is the haynes manual I have with the van,
I can pull the top of the button off, but then have no idea on dismantling and examing further,  all help and advise on rectifying the problem appreciated

Actually I note they are piccies and instructions.

I used those instrutions when the flush on mine packed up.Found it quite straightforward to do and flush worked well afterwards although eventually I played sillies and fitted a pump operated by a doorbell push button.
