Site speeding as never seen before
We spent a couple of days at Chapel Lane last week on our way back from a glorious 3 week visit to Wales (including 9 days at Freshwater East which were wonderful!!) and saw something we've never experienced before. The Chapel Lane wardens are excellent and told us on arrival about all the new 5mph signs and the fact that extra road humps have been installed due to problems with speeding on site. We duly pitched next to a vacant pitch and there was a hump on the road in between us.
Whilst sitting in the caravan I saw an outfit (car and caravan) heading up the site road doing at least 25-30mph. I said to my wife "come and have a look at this - when he hits that hump he'll take off". However, without reducing speed he drove over the next pitch, over the grass between the pitches and across the corner of our pitch, narrowly missing our van. All this to avoid the hump - but it certainly gave me one!
When I told the warden he said I should have got his number and he would be reported. Unfortunately by the time I got outside our van he'd gone as he was too quick for me. After 30 years of caravanning you think you've seen it all but there's always someting to amaze you!
