Search by map incredibly slow

i like using the search by map facility as it shows CL and Club sites in a particular area, useful for touring if you arent familiar with site names etc.....
however, for a while now, i have found it to be so slow as to be unusable, taking 10-20 seconds to respond to a command to move the map slightly or to zoom in and out.
i am using an ipad with a reasonable wifi speed (the C&CC eqivalent map search works fine)....
has anyone else ised this function and is finding it a pain?
