Can anything be done?
I am asking on behalf of a family member, who bought their caravan (used), 18 months ago from a well known dealer, based on their initial enjoyment of the caravn 'experience', we also joined the ranks of vanners a few months later.
Recently they decided to upgrade their caravan for one with an end bathroom due to it being easier to use for a disabled person.
All the paperwork was sorted by the new dealer, blackhorse sorted out the finance side of things, and all that was left was to take the old one down, do the part exchange, sign stuff and return with the new caravan.
A part exchange price was agreed for the old caravan - subject to examination.
On examination of the old caravan it was found to have very extensive rot/damp, bathroom panels had been replaced, and it was generally in a sorry state.
As a result the agreed part exchange price was drastically reduced, resulting in a large increase in the finance arrangement.
The dealer who examined the old caravan say that the rot/damp is something which would have been with the caravan when bought, and that the other dealer should have known and basically she has been sold a 'dud.
Is there anything they can do, or is it something to put down to (a now costly), experience?
They have not contacted the old dealer yet as they think it's not worth it.
