I needed to renew my passport.  Actually it expires in January, but I am going to the US in September so wanted a bit of life left in it,

Anyway you can now renew online.  I applied last Monday evening , Sent my old passport off on Tuesday morning got the online photo rejected on Tuesday night (complying with rules is a PIA) sent a revised picture Wednesday evening.  Recieved new passport Monday morning.  So just less than a week.  Doesnt seem worth paying the post office to check and it was much quicker than the 3 weeks quoted.

I recently renewed my passport on line.

It expired six years ago, had no problem renewing it. The whole process took 10 days.I didnt know you can send a photo on line i sent two photos with the signed form and my old passport.

    Great service, Just expensive.

Good to hear and perhaps not as unusual as many might think. I got my new driving licence back within 3 days. If you have access to MSWord I always paste our passport photos into a Word document and resize them exactly to the required size and print from
there. Never had any difficulties with either the Passport Office or DVLA. Never quite understood this Post Office checking idea, I assume it costs money?

With online photo you took a picture and attached it online it automatically cropped and sized it. The picture I submitted was my top helf

i also renewed my photol drivers licence last year as it was 10 years old. It automatically inserted my passport picture.  So a ten year old picture was replaced by a nine year old picture with further 10 year validity.

I'd give the Passport Office a thumbs up too (apart from the cost) - we renewed on line. Quick and easy but did send the photo in with the signed declaration. PS Still hate the photo - it ain't me. Looks far too old!!

Just renewed my driving license on line. Only took a few days to come. They used my passport photo.

I too had my photo rejected even though it was taken at a photo shop which 'guaranteed' it would be fine, they background was too grey, they did take another one and got the passport back within a few days

Have renewed my passport online.  Much, much easier and quicker too.  Also, when going international, you need over 6 months life left in it.

Just renewed mine too, very efficient, but a thought occurs - with Brexit will we have to change them again to a British version, and, more to the point, will it cost us?

If we have to change them we will have to pay, after all we voted to leave (lol)

It took DVLA 10 months to get my new license after my 70th - one medical condition had to be checked.  They have only just sent it - although they did use the passport photo (does anyone like their pic?)   Yesterday I received a customer satisfaction questionnaire
    - they may well regret my dissatisfaction at waiting so long.

But its good to know Passports can be renewed quickly.  My son is waiting for Passport Office to issue a passport for his 6 month old son - and was told 5 weeks - I hope it is settled more quickly so son and father can be reunited in the US.

Why do passport photos make you look like a thug? Mrs. WN just had hers done and I've been frightened of upsetting her since seeing it!
