Low Profile Tyres & Towing

Ladies & Gents, I recently have joined the caravan fraternity & purchased a fine Abbey Aventura 340. My trusty vehicle is a Nissan (an import called the Elgrand) has 19" wheels with 244/40 100W size profile. The tyres are Maxxis Victra MA-Z1's. The question
I have is that I've noticed that the sidewalls seem to be taking a hammering due to the weight of the caravan. I've been advised that the sidewall profile being so small causes the rubber to split apart & form bubbles inbetween the inner & outer of the tyre,
this I'm told is common on low profile tyres. Can you esteemed folk clarify this?

Thanks
