There does seem to be a way of getting the information from the USB stick onto an iPhone using something called Goodreader available from iTunes.

Another thought, have you had a look at
    >OsMand<
these are off line maps in considerable detail and its available for Apple devices. It used to be a very long winded process to load your own POIs but I believe this is now much easier. I have them loaded on my smart phone. While you can use it
for incar navigation I have not found it very good for that but it is excellent for use locally at a destination. It also links to WiKi for tourist information.

looks like the app doesnt display all the sites that appear on the web version, though how they are differentiated, i cant work out.

to see all the sites, you must buy the full version, the default download is a 'lite' version.

the full thing is £4.95 fpr a year but theis does allow fpr offline use and regular free data upgrades....

    ill think about it....

    Does anyone use CamperContact?

    http://www.campercontact.com/en/

I find it very comprehensive.  Not sure if it can be set up as POI's but it does run on laptops, tablets and phones.

Thanks and have book marked it for further examination.

BB and DorsetDriver. If my maps are causing probs your end, I can dissable the link. I think its mostly down to youre local cache.

I've had a look at Google earth Pro. I was able to load up all of my poi files. It does seem to have some off line ability by loading up areas that you have looked at into its cache. However, on line at home its more useful than I thought. By using the tilt,
you get a pretty good impression of the view from a given site. Googel earth pro is free. login with a gmail address and use
    GEPFREE as the licence.

DD i like it, as i said its like an easy to use, easy to understand version of campingcar-infos.

i cant vouch for the data content levels but looks like a winner.

    Cheers.

ah, i was hoping to create something like this

    http://www.campingcar-infos.com/index1.htm

which is google maps as a base but with a stack of poi info loaded over the top.

i have the maps and i have the poi data, so far the only way ive married up the two is on my tomtom.

alternatively, finding a way of using camping-car infos offline would do the job....

Ive managed to convert those files and load them into google earth and maps. The link to the POI editor further up the way is what I used.

On checking, I found I had looked at this App before and for some reason dismissed it. Perhaps because I didn't see any advantage over what I already do with the Campingcar Info's POIs and it may not have been so populated as today. I have not tried it again but I have checked out the latest version of OsMand+ and it is very easy to load your own POIs into it. All you need is .gpx files, each individually named and you just copy these as per the instructions >here<. They all have a common icon but you can switch each individually named file on and off as required. For £5.12 for the plus version it is brilliant value for the detail you get. There is a free version if you want to try it out before making a £5.12 commitment but I think the free version is constrained in what you can download and do.

I have posted about OsMand before >here<

Another thing I have noticed about the latest version of OsMand is you can now input the dimensions and weight of your outfit for navigation purposes. How good this is I have not tested out.

It is also much easier to use.

I have just loaded KeithandMargaret's location data of Continental vets into OsMand. Its a doddle and must be the easiest sat nav of the lot to load POIs. Downloaded the data from Google Maps and converted the resultant .kml file to .gpx and copied to OsMand. Job done in 5 minutes.
