Water Logged Grass Club and CL Sites.
We have just moved from a hard standing pitches CL to an all grassed and normally well drained CL field situated behind a pub / restaurant, however whilst manoeuvring off I nearly got stuck on the grassed areas between the pitches.
On arriving at the new CL I parked our motor home on the hard standing area entrance / exit to the CL field so clearing the car park, my intention the next morning was to get someone watch me enter and avoid getting bogged down, the owner was happy with
this stating that he didn’t expect any more campers, however within an hour he informed me a caravan which turned out to be a motor home would arrive ETA 2 hours. On arrival I moved to allow the other motor home access to the field.
In the morning I had again cleared the CL entrance to allow the other motor home off when I noticed that it had become bogged in; I immediately made alternative arrangements to stay at a nearby and much dearer commercial site that has an all hard standing
area.
My question and one that I’m sure must be on the minds of other members as well as site and CL wardens and owners.
How does one in view of the current wet weather determine when a grass site is suitable to again take motor homes or heavy tow cars or will it be by trial and error resulting in numerous brown furrows across sites?
