Our Current outfit of Lunar Clubman SB (MTPLM 1450KGs) and 2007 Volvo XC70 ( Kerb Weight 1700Kgs) provides a towing ratio of 85% and tows very well though MPG reduces from 40 to 27 whilst towing.

With our Volvo approaching its 8th birthday we are starting to look at a replacement and would prefer a slightly higher kerb weight maybe 1850 Kgs or thereabouts to cater for a slightly heavier van next time round.

Not wanting to buy a genuine rugged 4x4 we have been looking at less capable AWD models and have been pondering the Audi Q5 3.0 TDI as a possible replacement tow car.

Can anyone offer any views on its performance whilst towing and its suitability?
