Thetford Fridge Light Blues

Am I just an awkward old sod or does the infuriatingly bright blue light on the latest Thetford refrigerator annoy anyone else.  Not only does it burn out my eyes when entering but also bathes the entire van in a ghostly blue glow during the hours of darkness.
 I currently shade mine at night with a pamphlet but worry that it may burn a laser like hole in it one day.
