Hello CC members,

Last weekend we upgraded from our 1996 Compass Rallye GTE to a second hand 2011 Pegasus II Milan. We're very pleased with our purchase and have already spent a couple of nights in it. We have already found the odd little niggle and have been thinking about
the existing warranty.

Yesterday I contacted the original retailer and asked about the existing 3 yr Bailey manufacturer's warranty which is due to expire next month and also about the 6 yr body integrity warranty.

I was asked what services the caravan had had. I told the retailer that it was registered in June 2011, serviced in June 2012 and June 2013 buy an AWS engineer and that it had also been serviced in April 2014 by the same engineer.

I have been told that this last service is out of sync with the original registration date and therefore wont count and would have to be redone closer to the original purchase date i.e. June 2014. This seems bonkers.

I have also been told I will have to pay Bailey £50 to transfer the exsiting warranties over to me. Is this correct?

So, now my options are.

1. Get a 2yr gold MB&G policy for £400 that would be allowed to run from April 2014.

2. Get a standard MB&G policy for 3 yrs for £400 that would also run from April 2014.

3. Reservice the caravan in June 2014 for £180, pay Bailey £50 to transfer the warranties and extend the manufacturer one for 3 yrs at an unknown cost... Probably circa £300 which total's £530.

4. Transfer the body integrity one for £50 and hope nothing else goes wrong.

Any advice would be gratefully received. I am really in two minds as to whether it's worth it given the exclusion lists on even the MB&G Gold Policy.

Many thanks,

Ben
