Leisure Battery life

I hve just been advised that my leisure battery is not holding charge very well, and probably has a cell gone. The battery has had 2.5 years use and has been kept plugged into the mains on charge at all times when static.

Please can anyone advise, if posssible, the lifetime I should expect and should the unit be kept on charge as seems logical.
