Elddis Xplore 304 Shower Tray
In May 2014 I bought a brand new Xplore 304 from a Midlands dealership. Price around the 11k mark. Had a number of niggly warranty issues with it (door catches, sticky drawers, bed support rail but otherwise delighted. It does exactly what we want.
On return from a September break I noticed an annular crack around the drain in the showertray - wet bathroom so all use of loo etc involves walking accross/standing on the shower tray. A warranty claim has been rejected as plastic components are ony covered for 12months. An appeal and approach to the tray manufacturer has also been rejected. A replacement will be around £1k becuase of the labour time.
Needless to say I'm not ar all happy and am considering next steps. Sale of Goods Act and quality/fitness for purpose would seem a good starting point. In support I might assert that while my van has the shower drain just inside the door (where it's inevitably strained during entry/exit current build models have a 'mirror image' tray with the drain out of the way under the sink. This suggests a modification due oher user's issues.
Start point would seem to be a letter, perhaps using a CAB template pointing out my SOGA rights and ensuring dealer knows my focus is on him and not the manufacturer to whom he hopes to fob me off.
Any views, experience, or other suggestions?
