motorhome towing?

Hi All,

       This subject has been bugging me for some time, Why do motorhomers tow cars behind them? ,We used to tour with a Autotrail motorhome, but we could not see the logic in towing a car unless you were travelling ,say to Spain for 3-6 months on a long
stay, Then it would be logical, but why else would you tow a car in this country with a Motorhome?? surely a caravan with a decent car would fit the bill!!, We look forward to your educated reasoning
