caravanning over Christmas

Advice please:  How can I convince my family (husband, two children 9 and 5, two dogs) that it would be a great alternative to take the van away on holiday over Christmas?  I have fancied it for years, away from all the hype of the big event etc........on
the downside, we like to be cosy and the thought of iced up water containers etc not appealling!  Any comments would be gratefully received!
