The joys of buying on the internet
Well at last we have managed to find a lightweight caravan with bunk bed at the rear for our grandson.I have bought and sold caravans myself on the internet previously but never was I messed about and had so many wasted journeys as I have had this time.
Our budget was around £3K and I thought I had done my homework by emailing and contacting sellers by phone and asking many questions. I was assured many times that the caravans were in excellent condition and they all looked good in the extra large photos.
But take care! Photos can be manipulated these days and damage and imperfections removed. Anyway there really are people who will lie through the teeth in some sad hope that you will actually part with your money having travelled a long way on the promiss
of a nice van.
What was telling was that I enquired about 20 caravans. In all cases I asked a simple question by e mail enquiring if the van had any problems with damp ,when was it last serviced and was it in a road worthy condition and fit to tow. Over half never answered
the question . Most were private sellers but at three were dealers.
Eventually we found a nice well cared for Bailey Discovery 444 about 4 hours from our home in West Wales. We had almost given up hope but we struck gold in the end.
My advice is never ever part with any money until you have viewed not even a modest deposit.
