Tracker subscriptions - a word of warning
I purchased a new S3 Unicorn in October 2014 and this came fitted with the new (and fairly useless) Tracker Retrieve - that's the one that
you have to tell Tracker when you eventually find out that your shiny pride and joy has gone walkabouts, however long that may take, and they claim they will find it for you. Hmm! Do I want it back anyway!!
A few days ago I had a vague recollection that it had come with only 3 months subscription, unlike on the previous Bailey that had a full 12 months (no complaint
about Bailey in any of this posting by the way). A quick check of Tracker's paperwork confirmed this but, and this is my point, said that Tracker would contact me before the end of the subscription period to offer renewal. To date no such contact has ever
been made by Tracker so a phone call to them about it and they did confirm that the Tracker account was past the initial three months subscription and no longer active.
As my CC insurance included a Tracker discount I assume that the policy was now void and I was
not covered for theft. Thanks Tracker!
My local dealer was able to supply and fit a proper alarm system yesterday and CC have been informed of the changes and all is well again with the alarm discount cancelling out the
lost Tracker discount.
So, if you have a Tracker Retrieve (or I guess any Tracker system) be aware that they may not inform you when it is time to pay up again and you may run the risk of having a void
insurance policy.
