Petrol Towcar

Hi fellow Caravanners, 

After some advice if anyone can give it, presently we tow an 1100 KG van with a 2L diesel Vauxhall Zafira, which i have to say for towing is great, lovely and stable etc. with a light van such as ours. 

However, we dont really do enough miles to warrant a diesel away from towing and have recently spent in the regions of 3K on the car to replace the DPF and cat amongst other bits.

the sensible choice for us when we finally get rid of the Zafira would be to swap to Petrol as solo running is only around 8K miles a year at most.

Can anyone reccomend or share experiences of towing with a petrol or which ones are good - apart from anyone who uses a 5lt range rover as unfortunately they dont fit with my budget in any shape way or form Happy
