SORN inquiry
I'm Australian, own a 2006 Subaru Forester and 18' Coachman caravan, both of which are in storage over winter.
My wife and I travelled Britain for six months last year. Before we made our way back to Australia in October, I got my nephew to SORN the Subaru whlist in storage. A month before (in September) I received official notification of my intention to take the
Subaru off the road after 1st Octoiber from the DVLA office. The email is still on my iPhone.
I intend to come back at the end of April for another spell of four months.
What do I have to do to un-SORN the Subaru and get it back on the road again? My insurance for the year will run out in mid May, so that's a given that I will need to cough up for another 12 months' insurance, and the motor tax will be for another 6 months.
MoT can be done from 25th May onwards for a month until 25th June when it lapses.
Do I just present the motor tax form at any Post Office and it automatically un-SORNs the car? . . . or do you have to let the bureaucrats know that I intend to put it back on the road and get official paperwork beforehand?
Any other vehicle officialdom that needs to be seen to whilst in Britain, or is that all???
