Motorhome towbars

We are looking to swap our motorhome for one a little bigger and as we look around I'm struck by what a high percentage of units are fitted with a towbar - but the number of units we actually see towing is very, very small. May I ask, if you have ever paid
to have a towbar fitted to your motorhome what did you intend towing and did you really use it very much?

I do not need to tow anything. Am I being unnecessarily cautious in avoiding units with a towbar fitted on the basis that the engines/transmissions have to work hard enough just pulling a heavy motorhome without the extra strain of towing?
