Tyres for Driving over the Alps in April, May,June

We are looking to drive over the Alps in late April early May and then in June on the way home. What sort of tyres should i use? I have read that snow tyres are mandatory, other places no warnings given, some suggest all weather tyres?  Please can some one
advise me?
