THe Future is/could be bright
I have posted this in other sections as I feel this is far too important to get buried on the 30th page etc of a discussion ..so here goes.
Today I have read some astonishing news about a newly announce Volkswagon Cross Coupe...Just read these figures.
A Diesel engine coupled up to two electric motors and battery pack giving 157 mpg.
The Deisel engine is rated at 187 bhp on its own.
The Electric motors are rated at 168 bhp and when combined with diesel offers 380bhp of useable effort.
Top speed on electric only is 80mph for 30 mile and combined could do 137mph with a total range of 500 mile.
The future of affordable powerfull towing looks bright ....but I wonder how long to wait and how much for this beast.
I am only quoting Volkswagon releases and wonder how much has the truth been stretched ...but they would have to very large porkies to be that far away from these figures .
Awaiting to see what the techno posters have to say....whoopeee ...able go touring again.
