we picked up our 2016 coachman VIP 575 last month this is the first time we have used it. when the heating is on it sounds like a boiling kettle and was also banging which is keeping us awake at night as it is in the wardrobe next to the bed.

has anyone else had any issues like this we've had alde heating in our last van and it was quiet.

Craig, I am sure that somebody on the forum will come up with the correct answer. I wonder if it is anything to do with an air lock. Sorry not giving you much of a reply but hopefully somebody will. I will be following this thread as it will be a good one
to keep in the memory bank for the future. Hope all goes well.

Sounds like an air lock or if you have a seperate(i.e. not in the header tank) pump that your pump speed could be too high

I don't have one but I understand that on the heater somewhere there is a pump speed dial which should be set to 2 for normal use, may not have been set at PDI from the service setting of I think 5.

Thanks for the info I've heard about this pump speed before on a different post with a similar issue.

does anybody know where this is on a 2016 coachman with the alde 3020 system fitted as I am unable to find it.

    thanks

If you have air in the system you get a fair bit of gurgling and banging. In our Bailey we had the problem after having the fluid changed. However, all the air migrated to the high point in the towel rail and could be easily released through the bleed valve.
You will need more fluid to top it up though as the level will fall below minimum when you release the air. Don't know about coachman but our pump is on the side of the boiler under the front seat and the speed adjustment is fairly obvious on the top of it.

We are on our second caravan with Alde heating and neither made any noise other than you could hear a soft whine from the circulating pump. Even that has been addressed about two years back by an insulating cover fitted over the pump. As others point out
it seems you have an air lock and as Steve suggests try the bleed valve on the towel rail. Another tip I have heard is to tip the caravan nose down/up with raising the jockey wheel up or down whilst running the pump to get the air to run to the high point
    in the system.

Craig, the pump on your van is on the header tank in the larger of the two wardrobes and is a constant speed pump you do not have a variable speed pump which would be mounted on the side of the boiler. If the headr tank pump is too noisy for you, when you
have corrected the current noise problem then a variable speed pump can be retrofitted but the pumps are about £90.

We had same problem, the advice above to turn the pump speed down to no 2 worked for us.

If the dial is not on side of the pump( a blue disc) then I wonder if it's electronic in the settings on the touchscreen

Hi Thistleb May be difficult to explain but how noisy was your pump? we have a whirring sound which is not too loud but does prevent us dropping off to sleep to such an extent that I considered fitting the boiler mounted pump. Our van is also a 2016 Coachman.

Yes I Have a new Affinity and experienced the gurggling sound. I solved it by topping up the header tank to max level. I think the pump is not deep enough in the tank when the level is on min.ie too near the surface level of fluid. design problem in my opinion.
It is easy to top up. make sure you use the correct fluid. think mine is Alde fluid G+ good advice buy a small funnel to poor it in so you dont spilt it inside your wardrobe.

Or simply cut the neck end off one of the multitude of throw away plastic bottles we all must get.

Write your comments here...Forgot to say the pump is in the top of the header tank which should be in a wardrobe. Remove the plastic cowling at the top, a simple squeeze and lift up then unscrew the cap (it looks like an aquaroll cap) and pull up the pump
assembly. Place on some kitchen roll in the wardrobe to protect from drips. drop in a small funnel and slowly poor in fluid. you may need a torch to check the level. fil to max or just slightly below say 3mm and then refit parts. Might be a good idea to turn
your 12 v off whilst doing this.

The notes above about the pump on the boiler I question. I have had other issues which I will cover in another thread, but contact with Alde states that the 230 v pump (I assume is the one on the boiler) is NOT fitted in the UK. Even though the control allows
adding the 230 v pump as available, it is not there. Set your pump to either 12v or auto NOT 230 v. I think if you did the system will not work.

We have just had our Aldi fluid changed in our Sterling  Eccles caravan and in the manual it says the level of fluid should be 1cm above the minimum mark.

That is where mine is tolerant of it, anything more and then when on a high heat demand it will spit the excess out of the header's overflow pipe.

However mine is a boiler mounted pump system, with a 12 VDC pump, not the unit with its pump in the tank.

Write your comments here...yes that is correct, but I think it puts you in the "gurggling zone"  as I stated i think by design there is not enough fluid depth over the pump at min level to stop the fluid movement. As an example, if you were to use a hand
whisker to mix batter or cake mixture and you didnt put the machne beater well into the ingrediants. It will flick them everywhere. Therefore I rhink the design from that point of view is creating the problem.
