gas ring not staying lit!

Hi all, I have a 2010 Swift Charisma 230. The smallest of the gas rings would not stay lit after releasing the knob. I have taken it back to the dealer twice. The first time they "flashed" 12 volts through the heat sensor. All was ok until a month ago then
the same problem again. I have taken it back to the dealer again & this time allegedly they have contacted Swift who told them to LIFT THE GLASS LID UP & DOWN ELEVEN TIMES!!!! this apparently resets the problem? has anyone else heard of this. The ring is currently
working ok, so I am waiting to see what happens now.
