Carpet tiles ?

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone can give me the benefit of their experience.

Our Bucaneer Elan 'van has very light fawn fitted carpets, but our Dobermann has very big, and often muddy feet. the two don't go together and we've tried various carpet runners to cover up the carpet, but they don't stay in place and I'm now considering carpet tiles ! Has anyone used them ? Do they work ? or can you suggest anything else (apart from a new carpet !) Removing the original carpet is not an option as the dog just thinks it's on a skating rink.
