Differing opinions of CL's in reviews

We have recently returned from holiday where we stayed on 3 CL's which we had good experiences of. On return I decided to put reviews of the sites on the CC site as we could recommend them and couldn't believe it when reading the review of one site from someone who was there at the same time as us (although for not as long) it sounded like a different CL. The review was not very nice also there was a bad review on another CL we visited , some of the comments were quite personal about the CL owner and I wondered if CL owners have any sort of redress on negative reviews? I can understand if you had a horrible CL visit putting on negative comments but shouldn't comments be constructive either positive or negative not nasty?
