Poor quality Elddis motorhomes sold by Marquis
2 years ago I bought a new Elddis motorhome (the Majestic 130)from Marquis in Tewkesbury. I thought that buying new would relieve me of any worries about defects etc. I couldn't have been more wrong. The van was riddled with minor defects such as door handles
coming off, doors working loose, wires hanging down. Then a major leak (or water ingress, which doesn't sound so alarming does it?). Despite the so called 'SOLID' construction, this vehicle leaked. Marquis said I would have to pay for the diagnosis which I
refused and they relented and eventually repaired the leak at the expense of Elddis. I was without the van for over a week. Now whilst on holiday the sink started leaking all over the fridge. I'm worried that Marquis will once again try to make me pay.
I have complained to Elddis and also wrote to their MD but he declined to respond instead leaving it to their customer service people who apologised but refused my suggestion of a degree of compensation for the nuisance quoting their T&Cs. I know these are
'budget vans' but surely we are entitled to a degree of quality workmanship even if the materials are cheaper.
I am so dissillusioned with this motorhome that I intend to sell it and might even give up on them. Certainly I will not be buying from either Marquis or Elddis ever again if I decide to return to motorhoming.
