Towing electrics

Hi,

I have recently purchased my first caravan, collection set for the 10th May, and noticed that it has a 13 pin plug on it for the electrics.

My car, a 2004 Freelander, only has the 12N single electrics as has only been used for pulling a trailer. Would it be better to just add a 12S socket to the car and use an adaptor or replace with a 13 pin socket?
