Hello there

We will be collecting our caravan next month and are very excited. We are new to caravanning and having never towed before I am looking for some recommendations of campsites that are local to me (Barnsley) but have easy access.

I was thinking Clumber Park would be a good choice however they are booked the weekend that we need.

We are a young family, with 2 children ages 9 and 2 So something with facilities would be an advantage.

thanks in advance.

Have you considered Poolsbrook C C site, no children's playground, but Country Park next door, easy access from M1. Perhaps you could go to have a look before you collect your new caravan.

York Beechwood Grange has easy access and there is plenty for them with a short bus trip into York. You enter through a stud farm so the horses might interest the children. Most sites in the Peak District have good access but whatever you choose just go
onto Google Earth and you can see for yourself.

Clumber is one of those that are booked solid at weekends from when bookings open.  Poolsbrook is nice with the park next door plenty for children there and really only a step outside the CC site.  Quite a few are hard to get into at weekends if you don't
book in December - York Rowntree is another.  Have a great time.

I agree that Poolsbrook would be good for a first trip for you. Just down the M1 to either jct 30 or 29A. It has good flat pitches and the country park next door has good walks and a playground. It's not too far from Barnsley if you forget something esseNiall.

There is always the possibilities of 'no shows/cancellations' Cexton26 if you want to risk and go at the last minute - may be worthwhile ringing the site a day or two before you go???

Poolsbrook is super easy. Though I have to say I have yet to find a site that's difficult! The CC must check them first before approving them as club sites. But do follow the instructions for access & stick to the recommended arrival and departure
times to avoid meeting anybody. Google earth is useful to check out the route & note landmarks to avoid wrong slotting on final approach.
