Battery Maintenance X250 Fiat/Citroen

I have been advised that the vehicle battery on my 2012 Citroen Relay (same as X250 Fiat) is not maintenance free. Oddly my owners manual does not have any instructions about the battery or even its location). I believe it is in the footwell on the UK passenger
side. 

I want to check the electrolyte level;. Can anybody tell me how to access it ?
