Thetford fridge woes
Just had a new PCB board fitted in our Coachman Pastiche 470/2 2011. We have been thinking about selling our van. Lovely to use and comfy but a change needed but you can guarantee that as soon as you think about changing/selling something always needs
to be replaced! Better for the buyer though.
So set about taking pictures etc after having been away in it for a few weeks and everything working fine. Opened the fridge door no light comes on, at this point I realised there was also no light on the front display panel either. Did all the usual
checks but no dud fuses or apparenty bad connections, just one dead Thetford fridge. So we speak to the mobile caravan engineer who's coming to service the van and he says" I can do that there are a lot of problems with these boards". Long story short after
much waiting for the PCB board it'seventually fitted and all seems ok. He says check it after an hour or so just to see it's properly cold. So I check it's cold and I'm going to switch it off completely and leave the door open a bit till next needed but
after being completely dead now it's permanently alive! Front on/off switchpressed nothing happens, fridge still lit up and cooling, main switch in bedding box turned off, fridge still on, pull fuse in main fuse box, fridge still on, go indoors and pull
socket for mains out of wall the fridge still shining bright, so seems to be permanently powered from the leisure battery as that's all that's left. Can't seem to raise the mobile caravan engineer so it's going to be interesting trying to get the fridge fixed.
Anyone else had this problem? Must be interesting if you've got to put van in storage as it'll soon deaden the battery. I suppose we better start phoning round for someone who can hopefully fix this dillema.
