Having been lucky enough to have a couple of weeks away in our mototrhome, and receiving invites to review the two club sites we visited during our break I have just got round to doing one Smile.  Rather frustrated on two accounts, firstly the timing out issue - luckily I remembered as I clicked and managed to copy text before it was left........ so all was not lost Smile.  Secondly the ratings, which have to be marked - again I ticked those BUT I had to tick 'good for families'.  Our offspring have flown the nest and we have never caravanned with them so I find this impossible to answer. I gave it one tick - but did write why I didn't feel able to score this bit, it does have play facilities, but how you would rate them when you haven't looked at them I can't say.

Maybe, just must maybe, the new upgrade Sealed will allow for this to be have an over-ride or not applicable button.

Our thoughts are similar B2. I gave up reviewing Club Sites ages ago, and persevered for longer with CLs, mainly out of a sense of wanting to help them get future business, but can't really be bothered to do even this nowadays on this site. The time out function could have me smashing the screen some days, and you shouldn't have to save and copy and paste on a decent website. Don't even try to post photos! And as you say, the ratings section is poor. I continue to think this website is no longer fit for purpose in some sections, it was badly in need of the overhaul two years ago, now it is just not worth the hassle! Reviews are important, especially to CLs, and future users. I make a deal of putting a review over on Caravanchat of all the sites we use, including pictures, and it is a doddle! I feel like swearing sometimes on here with the blasted will it- won't it timeout!Yell

Agree with you Bakers, we always write our reviews elsewhere, save, then copy and paste when we do the review in CC. Would also like to see more 'tick boxes' to cover the age of the reviewer. As you say, how do you judge a play
area when you havent used it

I thought the whole CC website was dramatically upgraded some time ago except this forum was not touched?

You are just re-iterating what's been gone over many times now so I totally agree with you.

    Quick I must press "Reply"

I recently added two reviews of Club sites we recently visited and had no problems with timeout. There are certainly elements of the reviews that could be improved:-

    1) Why the need to give the review a title?

    2) Why not the ability to use your own overall rating of the site rather than it being automatically calculated.

    3) Why not a N/A option for the child friendliness?

    4) Why not an option to give a view on value for money?

    5) Why not an option to comment on the WiFi?

I am sure there are many more that could be added but it depends whether the Club want real opinions or just  sugar coated reviews.

Oh how I so agree with all the points raised.  I find posting or finding anything on a subject on here a REAL PiA
Embarassed.  VERY frustrating - beyond belief at times.  I do like the whole idea and generally find everyone on here very knowledgeable
and friendly.  A great source of knowledge and inspiration.  However, these days I only tend to read posts, rarely contribute unless I have a need to avoid other tasks, and even more rarely start a thread.

I understood this was getting an upgrade in early 2016, think it's been missed
Wink. Also agree with someone who said better the devil you know - but there has to be a better way
Sealed.  Such a shame for the Caravan Club to have this as a show window......................................

The time out is frustrating, especially if you need to edit. The rating bit is always questionable, not just for families but for facilities, how do you rate non fac sites etc. Just a general personal star rating would be better, then the overall rating from reviews could be calculated on how much people like a site.

I imagine it must be a massively complicated job to give reviewers more time to write their review........yes, that must be the answer.......it couldn't be that the IT staff have never tried out their own web site......could it?

I tend to be a quick keyboard user, and have a pattern to writing reviews, (bit about the site, bit about the facilities, bit about the area, what to do, eat or see, plus bit on dog walks) but the time out beats me most times, so I get fed up! Not a problem
    on other forums.

It might be easier for everyone if there was a word limit so the timing would give more chance for a check through and edit.

I agree with your main points B2. I do hate being timed out and sometimes don't remember to copy my review before posting. Yell

With regards to the "Good for Family" ratings we too haven't caravanned with our children or grandchild for many years now, but I tend to rate the area with respect to that query rather than just the site.

Never had a problem with the reviews. You need to keep them reasonably short or they put people off. Not sure why you need a title but many other sites also ask for one so it is probably a standard thing. The points you scire are also a common feature but
having too many more might put people off.

Not sure why you cannot judge if a site is suitable for families, you can see what is there and know what they need even if the kids no longer come with you.

What I would like to see is the facility to put in paragraphs as the big blocks of print are offputting.

Some leaving reviews will have never had kids and although they would have been kids themselves, it would still be difficult to leave an objective comment.
