We have only been caravaning for a few months but have taken to it with zest and vigour and use it as a helpful way to carry out our two favourite pastimes of photography and golf. We love our caravan and the freedom to go wherever, whenever and enjoy the feeling of  home from home. Unfortunately to date we get the impression that because we both work and cant get away from the house till at best 5pm on a Friday that we suffer for it once we get to our chosen clubsite. Already on our 4 weekend excursions TO CLUB SITES we have found that the only pitches we have left to choose from are the ones that inevitably no one else wants....the sea views....gone! get in the corner and enjoy the tree view!!... or having to yet again putting up with being next to the waste points or next to the play areas...dont get me wrong, I have no problem with kids playing, its what they do and should enjoy, but when you book a site that promises exactly what you dont get, thats when the irritations creep in. Even more so when the kids playing have a bike ride back to their vans as the parents have parked as far away from the noise as is possible!!!

Now it all boils down to the fact that we dont arrive till normally around 7ish and of course everyone else has been there from the doors opening. My question therefore is...  should it be that we can book pitches aswell as sites to give those that can't turn up early a fairer chance??

I would pay more for this facility if it would garuantee a pitch I would want rather than have to have as no one else actually wanted it. Why?? Because it is one of the worst one the site!!  Thats why it is there. But I pay the same money....is that actually right fair and proper????

I have to say im already feeling more than a little disgruntled at getting views similar to the back of the hotel overlooking the bins rather than the advertised sea views from the balcony promised in the brochure!!!

I mention Club sites...we have been to 2CLs and it was very different as all the pitches had the same views and were much better in our opinion, but it still does raise the question for the club sites and would give us and im sure many others more choice if there was a pitch as well as site booking facility so dont all come back and shout "go to CLs"...this is about fairness and choice.

Personally I think its good for business but not good for the patrons and a little naughty if the club never tells you, till your onsite and probably unlikely to turn around and go home, that the pitch is the least likely you would book. They are of course at this point in pocket you loose out at getting a bit of a bum deal. This is quite posssibly the reason you cant book pitches as the bad ones would always be left and so never a full site guaranteeing a good healthy profit at all times. If you saw online that it was a poor pitch that no one would necessarily choose but you go ahead and book it at least you then know what you are in for  at the point of booking .  Come on Caravan club...give us the option at the point of booking...agree or disagree???
