Problems with a mover

Hi. I just bought my first caravan (single axle Bailey Ranger 510/4), which has a remote controlled mover fitted. The mover kind of works but on my gravel drive it just seems to stop after moving a very short distance. Is this normal or is there a
problem with the mover? I'm wondering if they aren't designed for gravel as the jockey wheel drags a bit in the gravel when you try to change direction - or should it be able to handle this? Seems a bit pointless if it can't so I think there's something wrong
with it? Help please from someone with more experience!
