Caravan came off car
Hello caravanclub.co.uk - great website and thanks for accepting me, i've used you site for lot's of problems in the past. So let me start by scaring you and all your members (i'm dreadfuly sorry). 3 nights ago I was driving at high speed down the motorway,
and suddenly felt my van accelerate, I looked in my mirror to see that my caravan had detached itself, was still going very fast, and was trying to overtake me down the slip-lane. I managed to slow it down by jamming my van against the caravan against the
speed-barriers - the speed barriers quickly ran out and luckily the caravan rolled into a heavily bushed ditch. I could not have been luckier, the caravan is badly scratched on both sides, and my van on one side. Some information - It was one of the first
times in my life that I didn't hitch the car to the caravan - a friend did it for me (he insists he did it correct?), the caravan has probably done over 200,000 miles in it's life and been hitched/unhitched 2000 times (?) it is a year 2000 Fendt 6.5m with
a standard Al-ko stabiliser. I did not have the safety wire as it broke last year (and thinking about it, and the conditions, it was maybe lucky i didn't?) - lastly it was in Denmark, so imagine the whole scene again, but on the other side. Can i ask your
experts what do you think happened? I have been driving twice since with no problems and I have really tested it. My confidence is shattered, how could this have been possible? Please ask me any questions, and thanks in advance!
